The LORD is good...
Well, we have been in the process to become missionaries with the International Mission Board for 2 years and yesterday afternoon, we received final medical clearance!!! We are so excited, and thankful to all of our prayer warriors. We trust that the Lord Jesus' timing is always perfect and we trust that we were not supposed to be cleared until yesterday.
It has been an amazing couple of weeks! About 2 weeks ago, we met with our pastor and his wife. We were concerned about all of the stuff in our house and how we were going to get rid of it. We had this idea from a friend to do a "Blessings Party"...basically, inviting the church to our house to take what they wanted since we cannot have garage sales in our neighborhood. It would be our blessing to others. Tim and I discussed making an announcement to the church and how he would need to tell his co-workers prior to that announcement so they would not hear it through the grapevine but directly from him. We thought we had a plan formulated and even announced it to our Sunday School class.
Well, as usual, my plans are not the Lord's plans and His plan is far better. We had to raise some money from our furnishings because of selling our house at a loss and needing closing funds, so we decided to put a few big items on Craig's List. The first item to go was our dining room table, it sold the first day and we thought we had it priced pretty high! That family also bought a few other items when they found out why we were selling our furniture. That was exciting but it gets better...
Next we posted our bedroom furniture and a very nice lady from Wisconsin came and bought it. We shared our story with her and she came back 4 more times to buy stuff!!! She is setting up a second home in Bella Vista and needed lots of furnishings. I was blown away! Thanks Amy!
Our next item was Katie's furniture, this took a few days longer and I kept getting requests for the dresser separately but I did not want to break up the set. So one day I got a message and talked with a lady who wanted to buy just the bed, well I knew someone very dear to me who really needed a dresser for her girls, so I agreed. As I was talking to the lady about the bed and shared with her why we were selling our furniture, she said she had been to Kenya and as a matter of fact her SIL grew up in Kenya! But even better, her SIL grew up as a missionary kid and her parents served in Africa for 27 years with the mission board! I asked if she would give her SIL my phone number...about 2 hours later I got a phone call and found out about the school in Nairobi and so much more! God is so very good!!!!
There have been so many blessings to us as we have been giving our stuff to others...I have many more stories just like these. Our church family has been a huge blessing to us and it has been fun to "give" our stuff to them...some may be getting more than they wanted but we are okay with that :-). They have given us so much love and support that we could never repay.
Through this process, I have had the pleasure of getting to know Tim and my family much better...that has been wonderful and I am so glad that the Lord gave me these opportunities.
Next up is our closing on December 1st. Please be in prayer that it goes smoothly. Also, we have delayed telling Tim's co-workers until after the closing and I ask for prayer that the grace of Christ will be upon him when he does share.
Thank you so much for your prayers! May God bless you.
