Monterey, CA Day 3
On Day 3 we decided to travel a bit further south to Point Lobos State Park. The kids really enjoyed hiking the paths and getting to play in the water again. We found a few tide pools and Nathan went to town.
There is just something about my boys and rocks! He sat there for over 30 minutes just throwing the rocks and splashing. He was soaked by the end of the day.
The best part of the trip was spending time with old friends. James Fyffe was Nicholas' first friend. They met as infants and were best friends until we moved to Minnesota when he was 2 1/2. They haven't seen each other in years but picked up right where they left off and were pretty much inseparable. Here they were trying to figure out how to "fish for crabs" using a piece of kelp. Nicholas started out only directing but soon got involved in the action.
This is one of my favorite pictures...pictures really are worth a thousand words! Any guesses?
No, I am not pulling his hair...I am picking rocks out of his hair but I think his expression is more about the excitement of getting to play in the water. He is such a cutie!
We ended our time in Monterey and headed to the city this afternoon. We had dinner in Chinatown, Nicholas had his dumplings and the rest of us enjoyed our dinner as well. Last stop for the day was a fantastic Italian Ice Cream shop, absolutely delicious!
We loved Point Lobos!
