Our First Safari Adventure

Katie Nairobi Park from Tim Terrazas on Vimeo.

Last weekend we went on our very first safari adventure.  Tim has received his residency card, which lowers the price significantly.    We went to the Nairobi National Park which is located right in the center of the city.  It was beautiful and surreal...you can actually see the skyscapers from downtown in some parts of the park.

Just to give you an idea of how large this area is, we drove from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and never covered the same area twice, also we did not get to see all of the park which is approximately 45 square miles.  It is really small for an African National Park.   As we exited the park, it was very strange to re-acclimate to the Nairobi traffic since we had rarely seen a car all day inside the park.

Nicholas said it was the "best day of his life"!  We saw a lot of animals and they all appeared very healthy.  The staff does not feed the animals so it is truly natural.  The zebras were very fat!  We are looking forward to visiting other parks, apparently this one is not the best but for a family of newbies, it was great.  The kids loved snacking in the car all day and not having to wear their seatbelts...Katie was hanging out the window most of the day.  We all slept very well that night!
